Weighing A ShipBoat 1

LOCATION
Netherlands, Krimpen aan den Ijssel

THE CHALLENGE
In November 2018 we were able to help weigh a yacht at the shipyard of the Buijs brothers in Krimpen aan den Ijssel. The weighing was done to determine the weight of the steel structure.

THE SITUATION
They hired equipment from us to structurally monitor the loads. Our rental concept fits in very well with this. Specialised quality materials and knowledge of the applications on request. No need to worry about transport, storage or maintenance. Once the job is done, we pack our belongings and take the materials used with us.

We sent 4 Straightpoint loadcells (2x 200T and 2x 300T) and GreenPin Widebody shackles to the yard. Each load cell hangs in its own hook. The result is that 4 separate measurements can be mapped. Even 5, when we add up the total load (shown in the picture with the laptop). The system works wirelessly and can be monitored in real time using software on a laptop, up to a distance of 700 metres.

As said, the yacht was an impressive one. The total weight was about 418T. It was lifted about a meter from the ground and launched a little further on. The lifting job took about an hour in total, where every second the load distribution could be read accurately.

Edwin Boelens and Niels van der Breggen were present on our behalf to assist.
